Pentagon Investigates Army Private Entering North Korea

Travis King crossed the border while touring Joint Security Area in Panmunjom

The Department of Defense (DOD) has launched an investigation into U.S. Army Private Travis King’s crossing into North Korea and subsequent disappearance. Private King participated in a group tour at the demilitarized Joint Security Area in Panmunjom, Korea. There he crossed into North Korea and has not been heard from since.

Private King faced disciplinary action while he was stationed in South Korea, and would likely have faced additional disciplinary action if he had returned to the United States as scheduled. But the Pentagon does not think these facts make up the whole story. “He wasn’t in custody when he was going through the airport,” Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated during a briefing. “He was flying home.”

“Our biggest concern about Private King is that we want to bring him home and we are doing whatever we can through the interagency, from DOD and other partners, to find a way that we could bring him home,” said the deputy press secretary.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to seek God’s guidance as he heads the U.S. military.
  • For Secretary Christine Wormuth as she leads the U.S. Army.
  • For investigators as they search for answers regarding the private’s disappearance into North Korea.
